چکیده

This paper presents the work of building a Grid workflow system on distributed virtual machines. A Grid Virtualization Engine (GVE) is implemented to manage virtual machines as computing resources for Grid applications. The Virtual Data System (VDS) functions as a Grid workflow engine. This paper designs and implements the Virtual Data System on distributed virtual machines, which are enabled by the Grid Virtualization Engine. Various interfaces between GVE and VDS have been defined and implemented. A high energy physics application, the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) benchmark, is tested on a test bed equipped with the developed technologies. System discussion, test results and performance evaluation justify the paradigm of building VDS on distributed virtual machines and the prototype of our design and implementation.

A Near Optimal Approach in Choosing The Appropriate Physical Machines for Live Virtual Machines Migration in Cloud Computing

Migration of Virtual Machine (VM) is a critical challenge in cloud computing. The process to move VMs or applications from one Physical Machine (PM) to another is known as VM migration. In VM migration several issues should be considered. One of the major issues in VM migration problem is selecting an appropriate PM as a destination for a migrating VM. To face this issue, several approaches are...

Progress towards Petascale Virtual Machines

Petascale Virtual Machines (PVM) continues to be a popular software package both for creating personal grids and for building adaptable, fault tolerant applications. We will illustrate this by describing a computational biology environment built on top of PVM that is used by researchers around the world. We will then describe or recent progress in building an even more adaptable distributed vir...

Building a Virtualized Distributed Computing Infrastructure by Harnessing Grid and Cloud Technologies

In this article, we present the realization of a system, termed as InterGrid, for interconnecting distributed computing infrastructures by harnessing virtual machines. The InterGrid aims to provide an execution environment for running applications on top of the interconnected infrastructures. The system uses virtual machines as the building blocks to construct execution environments that span m...

Communication-Aware Traffic Stream Optimization for Virtual Machine Placement in Cloud Datacenters with VL2 Topology

By pervasiveness of cloud computing, a colossal amount of applications from gigantic organizations increasingly tend to rely on cloud services. These demands caused a great number of applications in form of couple of virtual machines (VMs) requests to be executed on data centers’ servers. Some of applications are as big as not possible to be processed upon a single VM. Also, there exists severa...
